  • Contact data: This includes your first name, last name, postal address, email address, telephone number, and organization name.
  • Profile data: We collect your username, password, and any additional information obtained from source code repositories, as described below.

  • Transaction data: Details about your purchases, registrations, and billing information made through our Sites.
  • Usage data: Information about how you use our Sites and interact with us.
  • Marketing data: Your preferences for receiving marketing communications and details about your engagement with them.

Information from Source Code Repositories. Our Services operate, in part, by integrating with your source code repository (“SCR”) account (e.g., GitHub). When you log in to the Services through your SCR account or connect your SCR account to the Services, you authorize us to access, use, and store information that you agreed the SCR service provider could provide to us based on your SCR account settings and permissions granted. We will handle this information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. At any time, you have the option to revoke our access or disconnect your SCR account by following the instructions in the SCR. If you choose to revoke our access or disconnect your SCR account, Hunker will retain your email address, SCR username, and organization name, unless and until you close your Hunker account by following the instructions available here (for Quality customers), or contacting our support team online or via email at support@gethunker.com.

Information automatically collected. We, along with our service providers and business advertising partners, may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, and activity occurring on or through our Services. This type of information may be collected over time and across third-party websites. The automatically collected information includes:

  • Device data: Such as your computer or mobile device operating system type and version number, manufacturer and model, device identifier (e.g., Google Advertising ID or Apple ID for Advertising), browser type, screen resolution, IP address, and general location information (e.g., city, state, or geographic area).
  • Online activity data: Including the website you visited before browsing to our website, and details about your use of and actions on our Services, such as pages or screens viewed, time spent on pages or screens, navigation paths, access times, and length of access.

We employ technologies such as cookies, browser web storage (locally stored objects or “LSOs”), web beacons, and similar technologies on our webpages to collect this information. Our emails may also contain web beacons. Please refer to the “Cookies and Similar Technologies” section for more details on how we utilize these technologies.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

At Hunker, we utilize cookies and similar technologies to enhance your browsing experience and better understand how you interact with our Sites. Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit our website. These files serve various purposes, such as helping us analyze site usage, enabling efficient navigation between pages, remembering your preferences, and improving overall user experience.

Our Sites may employ both session cookies, which expire once you close your web browser, and persistent cookies, which remain on your computer or mobile device until you delete them.

We classify cookies into two main categories:

  • First-party cookies: These cookies are directly served by us to your computer or mobile device. We use them to recognize your device when you revisit our Sites.
  • Third-party cookies: These cookies are served by service providers or business partners on our Sites. Third-party cookies allow these parties to recognize your computer or mobile device when you visit other websites. They may be used for various purposes, including site analytics, advertising, and social media features.

Web Beacons. In addition to cookies, we may utilize web beacons (also known as pixel tags and clear GIFs) on our Sites and in our HTML-formatted emails. Unlike cookies, web beacons are embedded invisibly on webpages or within emails. They help us track user actions on our Sites and interactions with our emails. Pixel tags assist us in measuring the success of marketing campaigns, email engagement, and compiling statistics about Site usage to improve our content management.

Online Advertising and Opting Out. Some of our partners collect information about users’ activities on our Sites for targeted advertising purposes. If you prefer to opt out of such targeted advertisements or block cookies and similar technologies on our Sites, you can find more information in our Online Tracking Opt-Out Guide. Please note that we may collaborate with companies that offer their opt-out mechanisms, and they might not be listed in our guide. Opting out of targeted advertisements may still result in seeing ads online, but they may not be as relevant to your interests.

Do Not Track Signals. While some Internet browsers allow you to send “Do Not Track” signals to online services, we currently do not respond to these signals. To learn more about “Do Not Track,” you can visit http://www.allaboutdnt.com.
